Why on earth does Disney feel the need to give their wonderful, classic songs so many makeovers??? They come nowhere close to the original and, if the case, end credits versions!!!! ARGH!

Recently I listened/watched on youtube to Disney songs (Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, etc.) performed in new pop versions by some of the Mouse's brightest starlets. I listened to a good number of songs -- some with quite a few new renditions. About 2% of the songs were nice. The other 98% was horrible. The worst ones, IMHO, was Miley Cyus' "Part of Your World" (totally ruined it) and "Poor Unfortunate Souls" by the Jonas Brothers.

Please, please Disney, leave your songs alone!

OW. Just those words alone. However, now I think I must find it, suffer through it, and then share the pain with others.

I wonder if it'll be worse than the Alana de Roma version, which is pretty painful. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLs8d0ShmSs)

I hadn't heard the Alana version before. She sure sounds young on it. It was pretty painful. But, in my opinion, Miley is much, much worse. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ophzked9ZY) She doesn't have the right voice for this type of song, and completely ruins it for me. Please share your thoughts!

Miley is worse. Definitely does not have the right voice.

Still, while I love The Little Mermaid (and, so far, HATE all the covers of its songs), I can do one better, or worse, as the case may be. Fall Out Boy covered "What's This?" from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Miley ranks right under them, though, for worst cover of a Disney song (that I've heard).

Oh, goodness! I remember hearing that version of "What's This?" when my brother borrowed The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack. I thought it was so horrible (my brother found it sort of cool). They ruined a song I'm quite attached to. I agree they are a little worse than Miley; they could almost tie in my opinion. *bangs head on desk*
