Favorite Christmas videos of the week I found on youtube.
Grand pas de deux – The Nutcracker (I’ve never seen a verison like this one. Some of the lifts are amazing, and it reminds me a little of the Rose Adagio from Sleeping Beauty. Beautiful.)
Bless Us All – A Muppets Christmas Carol (One of the most moving parts of the movie. I heart Robin/Tiny Tim.)
Carol of the Bells – concert (Amazing, pure and simple.)
Russian Dance – Fantasia (The animation fits the music so well. This is one of my favorite parts of the movie.)
Waltz of the Flowers – Fantasia (I like how the seasons change during the course of the piece.)
Merry Christmas!!! *hugs flist*

Date: 2006-12-24 11:48 pm (UTC)The music of The Nutcracker is beautiful. I love Tchaikovsky. Who are the dancers in the ballets?
the version of La Boheme has Mirelle Freni, Gianni Raimondi and Roland Penerai in it...there were approximately seven different versions, though.
I haven't seen that version but I've heard it is very good. My personal favorite is the one by the Australian Opera. Yeah, that's the thing with ballets and operas, there are a number of different versions of the well known ones. Thus, that is why I ask you who is in them. :)
AndI put Turandot on hold. :D
More Puccini! Lol. That is another great opera that I like.
The ballets are really soothing and pretty. Which others do you recommend?
Yes, they are.
Hmm...recommendations. Swan Lake (I would suggest try to see one by the Kirov Ballet), The Sleeping Beauty, Coppelia, Giselle, Jewels... I don't want to give you too long a list. ;) Most of these ballets have several versions, but I don't know what your library will have. I hope this helps a bit.
Have a Merry Christmas! *huggies*
