Is "Snow White and the Huntsman" trying to be"Twilight"'s cousin?

I just read the novelization of SWAH -- still haven't seen the movie, and after reading the book, my interest has diminished a lot -- and it seemed to be trying super hard to have a love triangle going (the current IT-to-have in YA books and movies and all things). I've heard that the ending of SWAH is sort of open ended (for the sequel or two, naturally), but the book ending clearly shows there is no such thing. So is it going the Twilight route with the girl stuck between two boys only she always preferred X over Y from the beginning, but it won't be blatantly revealed until the triangle has been dragged out for two more films? Just curious.
