AWE trailer...and thoughts and wonders
Well, the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is finally here. And it is a most impressive trailer; better than the one for DMC, IMO. And it has given me hope for the (please let it be so!) conclusion of the trilogy.
I love Pirates 1. It has a great plot, nice special effects, a good score... and the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow. I really did not think a Pirates 2 was needed. But it was okay. I felt like I was watching The Two Towers with the three storylines, and a lot of things I didn't get; nor did I care for the cliffhanger ending. The main reason I liked the second film was because of Jack -- and J/E.
Now I am looking forward to seeing the third one, and I'm crossing my fingers that it will live up to my new expectations. (I have heard that a lot of the time the middle installment of a trilogy is the weakest; so here's hoping.)
The trailer opened with young Elizabeth singing her pirate song again. But this is really all her story, I keep forgetting.
I think I'm going to really like Barbossa. He looked great in the trailer. What a laugh while sailing the ship towards that whirlpool!
Jack, Jack, Jack. Loved him. "Did no one come to save me just because they missed me?" Only Jack the Monkey raised his hand. Jack's reaction was priceless. "And I owe them all money." Haha! For some reason I'm not surprised. "Keep telling yourself that, darling." I got the impression he was attempting to hide how hurt he was. His lighthearted words didn't, IMO, match the look in his eyes. He tried to smile but it wasn't real. Oh Jack! *hugs him*
Near the end of trailer when I saw the shot of Will all in black with his bandanna I thought, "The Man in Black!" (from the Princess Bride)
There was one shot that circled Jack from the back to the front which strongly resembled his entrance in the first movie.
There were so many shots I liked. The ship sailing upside down under the water. The gigantic waterfall -- World's End perhaps? The first shot of Jack. The whirlpool. Gibbs and Jack doing a sort of high-five with their fists. Jack blowing at the end of his pistol. Davy and Jack fighting away was the most awesome shot in the trailer. It fitted the mood of rushing suspense and the music very well.
By the way, I really liked the music used in the trailer. Anyone recognize it?
Seeing the trailer brought up some questions.
Near the end of the trailer it looks like some of the crew below deck tosses weapons up to Barbossa and Liz. Is it me, or is she wearing something like a modern suit? Cause a lot of her legs are showing.
"Four of you tried to kill me in the past. One of you succeeded!" Obviously, Liz succeeded, and Barbossa tried to get rid of Jack. I'm curious about when Tia attempted to do him in. And just when did Will try to kill Jack?
Why did Will ask Elizabeth to marry him again? They were still engaged I thought.
I found it very interesting during Barbossa's voiceover of "Our enemies have united and vowed to destroy us," we saw Beckett, Davey Jones, Norrington, and WILL. I wonder...
And I honestly have no idea who Elizabeth will go off into the sunset with.
